The Denver Boulder climate can be a harsh place a dry oven one minute and biblical flooding the next. Water gardens store water for us and create a stable place to create thriving riparian ecology. We feel that many water features end up being lifeless string algae bathes because not enough thought goes into promoting a healthy microbiome and plant ecology.
Denver Boulder Water Feature provides white noise.
Small backyard water feature/pond provides white noise to create some sense of privacy in small urban spaces. Urban Oasis provided bubbling rock stacks to enhance the bubbling spring noise of this water feature.
Canine friends love biofiltered pools too!
Swimming pools when properly bio filtered can even keep up with doggy swimmers!
Crafting problems into solutions.
During the rather wet Spring of 2014 ground water swelled. This Boulder water feature coupled with a swale system became an artful solution to a very real problem. Neil is crafting a bubbling water stack in a Boulder backyard. See other projects that showcase Neil's ability to utilize natural materials in water feature design.
Rain collection
This Denver Boulder water feature collects rain water runoff! Sitting directly off a drainage swale this pondless water feature makes use of storm runoff.
In permaculture water features we utilize waste streams to enhance production.
The nutrients/fish waste from this Koi pond supplies the heavy feeders in this garden with a rich food source. In permaculture design we call this stacking functions. You feed the fish the fish feed the plants. Closed loop system is the ideal but this system is simple and works reliably well allowing this small Koi pond to support rather large fish.
